Public Training - Expression of Interest

Program Overview:

In this program, iHR’s facilitator and expert Senior Workplace Relations Advisor will guide participants through the key principles of conducting an effective workplace mediation, focusing on best practice process and the skills required of an effective mediator. Participants will observe our unique Workplace Reality Theatre where the facilitator and our actors will re-enact relevant and engaging scenarios from real-life mediations for group discussions. Participants will conduct a basic two-party mediation and receive useful feedback from their disputants and our facilitator, in addition to reflecting on their own performance.

  • Key legislation and guidelines
  • Designing a mediation plan
  • Preparing for mediation
  • The mediation process step by step
  • The mediator’s skills, knowledge and attributes

  • Developing the mediation agreement
  • Post-mediation activities
  • Observation of a mediation
  • Conducting and participating in mediations
  • Self, peer and facilitator feedback


Learning objectives:

At the conclusion of this workshop your managers, team leaders, and supervisors should:

  • Articulate the key principles of conducting effective workplace mediations
  • Articulate the steps and structure of the mediation process
  • Gain an enhanced understanding of the skills, knowledge and attributes of an effective workplace mediator
  • Develop a “toolbox” of mediation strategies
  • Develop a strategy for conducting an effective mediation in the workplace
  • Conduct a basic workplace mediation between two disputants, using best practice process and skills
  • Understand the confidentiality and documentation requirements pertaining to a mediation session

Venue and catering

Public training programs are delivered at CBD locations accessible by car and public transport. Venues are confirmed close to the program date with details sent to participants approximately 2 weeks before the program.

iHR Australia selects venues that provide participants with high quality food and beverage choices. Programs are fully catered with morning tea, afternoon tea and a lunch time meal. Participants attending half day programs are provided with morning tea.
Dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice.

Public Training – Terms & Conditions

Attendance Ineligibility

iHR Australia reserves the right to exclude or cancel registration to a Public Training program if the participant is deemed to represent an organisation or service provider that offers similar or competitive services to iHR Australia. A full refund of the registration fee will be provided in such circumstances.

Copyright / Intellectual Property Rights

The copyright in and all other intellectual property rights relating to the course documentation, and any other training materials provided to the program participants, are solely owned by and hereby reserved to iHR Australia. Under no circumstances may the whole or any part of the course documentation be reproduced or copied in any form without the prior written consent of iHR Australia. Training materials are defined to also include all electronic knowledge products or learning systems, which have been given to the participant on a storage device or made accessible via the Internet.

Should your circumstances change and you are unable to attend Training, please contact iHR Australia immediately via email to or phone 1300 884 687 to amend your registration or associated requirement.


If, after booking a Training session you are unable to attend, you are welcome to nominate someone else to attend in your place at no additional cost, on the conditions that you notify us no later than 24 hours prior to commencement of the Training.


If, after booking a Training session you are unable to attend, you are welcome to reschedule to new date at no additional cost, on the conditions that you notify us no later than 10 business days prior to commencement of the Training.

Should you notify us within the period of 10 business days prior to commencement of the Training; rescheduling fee of $150 will apply to reschedule you to another Training date.

When rescheduling your Training session, any applicable difference in price will be charged to you in addition to any applicable rescheduling fee. Price differences may apply if your original training session is booked at discounted or promotional prices. You can pay any difference in fee over the phone using a credit or debit card.

Refund Policy


  • Cancellation more than 1 week prior to the event: 100% refund
  • Cancellation less than 1 week, but more than 48 Hours prior to the event: $150 cancelation fee applies. (to cover costs incurred in relation to your registration)
  • Cancellation less than 48 Hours: no refund


If, after booking a Training session you are unable to attend, you are welcome to cancel your session by notifying iHR Australia via email or phone by no later than 10 business days prior to the commencement of the Training.

Cancellations received within the period of 10 business days prior to, on the day of, or after, training date will NOT be eligible for a refund.


In the event you have to cancel your confirmed registration, the following will occur:

  • Cancellation received more than 10 business days prior to the commencement of the Training: 100% refund
  • Cancellation received less than 10 business days prior to the commencement of the Training: no refund

Refund Processing:

iHR Australia will refund, within 7 business days of receiving a refund request, registration fees paid to iHR Australia as a result of amending your registration, after taking into consideration the relevant cancellation policy.

Cancellation of Training by iHR Australia

iHR Australia reserves the right to cancel or alter, without prior notice, any of the arrangements relating directly or indirectly to a Training event, for any circumstances beyond the iHR’s reasonable control. This includes the cancellation of an event itself.

Should iHR cancel a Training event, iHR will endeavour to process full refund of the registration fee within 7 days. iHR accepts no additional liability for travel or accommodation costs incurred.

Participants are advised to email prior to making any travel arrangements.
